Books, Books, and More Books ðŸ“š

This is likely one of my more aimless blog posts, but as I was doing some writing earlier I decided I needed a break. So per usual, I grabbed a book and plunged into somebody else’s story. Well for a short time that is. Then I stopped and considered other titles on my to-read-list. Needless to say, I started the first chapter of two other books for a little variety. Does this happen to you?

I find this to be a common occurence for me; this endless desire to consume the written word at every opportunity. It is certainly not the worst habit and we are living through a renaissance of sorts for modern fiction but with 5 to 10 titles a month coming out that I want to read, I can never keep up. And don’t get me started on the backlist I haven’t read yet. How are you feeling about this, dear reader? Overwhelmed?

My main goal is to read at least 65 books this year. I won’t rush it, the whole point is to enjoy it, but I like to set a goal for myself so I can plan what I am going to read a bit better (even though the above still happens). Last year I made it to 89 books so I think I can achieve similar numbers this year but we will see. Wish me luck!

What books are you currently reading? Have you made any plans for yourself so you can incorporate some classics or backlist that you’ve been meaning to get around to but can’t? I’d love to hear about it. Happy reading (and of course writing)! 😊

I am an author slinging short stories along with the almighty novel. I have been writing since my high school days on through to adulthood, moved over the years by my peers and the prose of the greats. The written word is my burning passion. Besides writing (and also reading a lot) I spend my time being: a dad to a beautiful little human that is growing too fast (along with parenting a few pet animals), a husband, and an avid traveler to the wilderness. I graduated from Purdue University and I live in Chicago, IL.
